| This really is an awesome book by a professional designer! I found out about it through the author when I was on-line looking for a particular pattern. I immediately sent for the book dispite the fact that it had only one review at the time, which was very critical. I have stitched one of the designs already and made it into a card. I'm SO pleased with it and all of the designs and ideas. In the back of the book is information on the papercrafting for the cards, which is very helpful, also. I am not a novice to cross stitching, but I was happy to discover a different application for cross stitching--stitching something quickly that will make someone else smile when they receive it in the mail. Because of this book, I am being inspired to do more with papercrafting and cross stitching. [...] |

| I am really stunned by the previous 1 star review. I really can't see her comments as being valid. It is true that the cross-stitch is shown on white aida, but that's so you can see the examples and appreciate the variety of colors and some shading in the designs. The charts are very clear and large and easy to read. All have some amount of shading involved and the recommendation of backstitch for highlighting. Ms Sanderson even shows you different ways to embellish the card with various scrapbooking and collage techniques or just go simply with an oval window card and the design. I found no ribbon work in the book. |
Good Selection

A nice selection of card designs, including a Christening/Baptism one, which is why I bought it. Designs include some using metallic floss, beads, and/or partial stitches.
The publisher is British so some of the materials may need to be substituted if you're in another ocuntry. |
Not worth the money

| I make all my greeting cards, over 100 a year. I am always looking for well designed cards that showcase my talent. These cards are mostly stitched on white 14 count cloth, and have little thought as to color blends or stitches other than a simple cross stitch. Almost every card is embellished with ribbon or other material, which takes away from the poor design. Save your money and look for another book. |
